  •  Agriculture is constantly developing and as it changes, growers have to adjust as well. Growers have never been at a more crucial period in farming, when land management and conservation techniques are essential for sustainability. This will continue to be an issue for producers as they weather the unpredictable fluctuations of the environment, financial markets, industry consolidation, political climates, all while juggling consumer demands. Convening two different growers from farms across the country, this panel analyzes the state of the farming industry, what challenges and opportunities growers are faced with on a daily basis, as well as the new obstacles they see on the horizon.

 Agriculture is the backbone of our nation. Continued financial support and infrastructural resources are necessary to help them do what they do best – and that means all farmers. Today, farming doesn’t only exist in the rural America. It’s also the vertical rows of indoor crops, grown with LED lights as the sun, stretching toward the ceiling with nutrient solutions to keep them green. Together with traditional food production, these urban and vertical farming advances will help feed our future. Speakers include Nathan “Nate” Kauffman, assistant vice president and Omaha Branch executive with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and David Rosenberg, CEO and co-founder of AeroFarms
